Anchor and windlass

On this page we have gathered some information regarding the anchor and windlasses that were standard from the shipyard on a 370 or have been later on added to S/Y Älva.

The standard bow anchor delivered by Hanse on the 370 is a Lewmar Delta 16 kg (35 lb).

Pro-Series 1000 Windlass

The 3-Button Windlass Remote (68000967) Kit is  easily retrofitted to existing installations and include a replaceable battery. The fob float and is waterproof to IP67 (1 Meter deep). Using over one billion individual codes, our proprietry encryption scheme prevents false triggering from any other device or similar fob. Ther kit include a Receiver that supports up to eight remote key fobs (additional fobs sold separately).
  • Allows wireless remote operation (up/Down) of any solenoid switched windlass.

We have 75 m of the 14 mm rope plus 4 meters of stainless steel chain on Älva.

The secret of a good rope for the windlass is that the rope is heat set. This gives the rope a firmer structure and the "teeth" of the windlass gets a better grip as the rope is more compact thanks to the heat treatment. At least this is what Liros says.
